Tailoring Philadelphia
I recently had the chance to visit one of the largest museums in the United States: the Philadelphia Museum of the Art for its “Tailoring Philadelphia: Tradition and Innovation in menswear” exhibit. The exhibit highlighted one of the city’s most successful tailors Francis Toscani and showed how Philadelphia was at the center of menswear and tailoring in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
It was surprising to me to discover that Philly was the Mecca of Menswear at one point in time and it’s great to see the resurgence of haberdashery and stylish men in the area today.
You can catch this exhibit now until summer 2011 Tailoring Philadelphia
Take a look at some of the garments that were being made back in the day to give Philadelphia its name in men’s fashion.
