Introducing K.R.T. Gentleman
KRT Gentleman is a segment where I highlight three different things; my styling, the photographer & a talented King or group of Kings. My definition of a King is a gentleman who is highly respected in his field, carries himself with the utmost dignity and holds a preeminent position among his peers. Bringing together talented individuals and highlighting their endeavors helps spread the unity and further the Kings Rule Together mission.
This month’s talent consist of three gentleman who are making a name for themselves in more ways then one.

Behind The King: Single Black Females
I like when someone gives me the creative freedom during work and trusts that the finished product will look exactly how they wanted it to, if not better. With the help of Aaron of Babyloncartel.com we were able to style two characters (Kevin Moore as Mike & Neil Carr as Sinclair) in the exact look director Kash Goins was going for in his hit stage play “Single, Black Female” at the Dupont Theater in Wilmington, Delaware.
The play is a love story… adapted from the movie Love Jones. Single, Black Female discusses relationship dynamics between black men and women. With the help of a stellar cast and amazing vocalists they had two sold out shows.
Other cast consists of Lauren Shaye as Renee, Kiki Shepard of Apollo Theater fame as Ebony, Alissa Murray as Sidney, Nashawn Kearse of Desperate Housewives as Rodney, Catya Washington, International Songstress Carol Riddick and Dinina Richardson as Tiffany and John Canada Terrel (Five Heartbeats) as Uncle Lawrence.
GoKash Productions next production will be in the Washington D.C. area for the debut of the Award Winning play “VI Degrees” for 2 shows as part of The D.C. Black Theatre Festival on 6/17 at 8pm and 6/18 at 9:30pm. This show will star Tray “Poot” Chaney from HBO’s highly acclaimed television drama “The Wire”.

Street Kings: Cool Shades
“Shades Scream Confidence”
As the weather breaks you start to find people searching for that perfect pair of cool shades. Sometimes the occasion may call for a extraordinary pair, encouraging you to be rebellious or in other words a Hippie. You find that most celebrities wear shades, whether it’s for style or to hide their face from the paparazzi. I’ve noticed a lot of bright and daring sunglasses on my search to capture stylish individuals.
Check out the cool shades of these onlookers.
Cultured Couture Vintage Grand Opening
Have you ever known about a nice clothing store to go get some exclusive pieces from or a hidden restaurant that was affordable with excellent cuisine and kept it to yourself? Well I used to have that same mentality until I came to the realization that “Kings Rule Together”. I would like to introduce Cultured Couture Vintage. Culture Couture Vintage is newly renovated vintage boutique that specializizes in resourcing and selling men’s & women’s luxury vintage garments at an affordable price. Catered to the stylish individual, owner Erik Honesty (Arts, Beats & Eats Best Dressed Winner) recently had his grand opening, which the Coach Tawfeeq Gaines, Aaron & Gianni of Babyloncartel & myself stopped by. I encourage people to support this new entrepreneur. Ruling together means supporting each other! K.R.T.

Prep Yourself: Tommy Hilfiger Pop-Up House
“A Exclusive Preppy Style Session”
Tommy Hilfiger has proven that he has more right to Vintage Americana than most brands influenced by the aesthetic. In this space dedicated to prep culture, he has created a limited edition capsule inspired by all of the provision needed for one nautical expedition. He placed a Hampton’s style vacation house equipped with a doggy house and a wind compass, in the middle of the meat packing district in Soho. I’m glad I had the opportunity to explore this four-day shopping experience. The next stop will be in Los Angeles, CA. If you’re in the area make it your business to check it out.

A King’s Wardrobe: Fashion Hippie

Fashion Hippie: n; A person who is easily recognized among the social norm through positive rebellion with his own style.
When fighting the stereotype reminiscence of the 60′s age of Flower Power inspires my floral patterns. The main thoughts extracted from the hippie was to be yourself & to influence society into a safe place. They dressed in a way that was comfortable, had often bright colors which was decorated by flowers. This was a promotion of peace. The gratitude of a free man shown in his outer appearance can change society. In other words, The outer directly affects the inner.
#Peace!

ABE Best Dress Spotlight: Tony “Munch” Rogers
Every first Sunday of the month Shaheed Rucker of Changemakers Org & Gianni Lee of Babyloncartel & myself host a social mixer called Arts, Beats & Eats. We like to bring out the best in our attendees from choices of music, conversation & even style. So I have been featuring the best dressed male every Sunday on my blog for a style feature (Check out last month’s winner Erik Honesty).
This month I chose Tony “Munch” Rogers. Munch and I grew up in the same neighborhood (Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia). There hasn’t been a time when I have seen Tony not looking dapper. If he isn’t at the mall or checking out the stores in Philly/NY looking for what’s hot to fashionably stand out from the crowd. Munch has an immaculate fashion sense and his look at Arts, Beats & Eats was a cut above the rest.
Tony is also a recent graduate of West Chester University with a Bachelors degree in Pre-medical Respiratory Science and he is currently pursuing his dream of becoming a Pulmonologist (lung doctor) at The University of Pennsylvania. K.R.T.
If you would like to get a style feature come to the next Arts, Beats & Eats June 5th with your Sundays Best!

Abstract Thought Spr 2011 Video Lookbook
The good folks at Abstract Thought have put together a dope video for their 2011 look book.
Abstract Thought is one of my favorite streetwear brands. The video shows the model Sam acting in the way that represents which shirt he has on. Pretty cool right? Cherese “The Magnificent” Brown shot the film and worked creatively together on it with owner of Abstract Thought Bill Nearn.
Check out the video and if you would like to purchase anything from their new line visit their site www.imabstract.com & come to their Spring 2011 Look Party on May13th at Landmark Americana 3333 market st Philadelphia, PA. K.R.T.
Talkin Fashion with B.R.A.G.
” Dress how you would like to be addressed”
Those are a few words I said to the filled room of Philadelphia’s University college students. I had the pleasure of joining a panel of some of the city’s fashion insiders for the Philadelphia University Black Retail Action Group’s (BRAG) “Talkin’ Fashion” event.
BRAG is a 40 year old non-profit organization that promotes professional development, education and mentorship for minorities that are interested in the retail industry. BRAG also helps to provide networking and internship opportunities for minorities in hopes to encourage and create true diversity.
It was a honor to be one of the panelist, as I still consider myself an up and comer. I actually learned a lot from the other panelist so it was very well rounded event. They were also collecting donations to raise funds for future BRAG endeavors. Thanks to the ladies of BRAG for having me. K.R.T.
