This past Wednesday I had the honor to be featured in the Philadelphia Inquirer on the front page and the cover of the Style section. After meeting Philadelphia fashion writer Elizabeth Wellington at an event, I was invited to participate in a shoot for her next column: The Fashion Nerd. Playing off of my style, the Fashion Nerd is a breed of stylish men who enjoy vintage clothing and harking back to the days of gentlemanly dressing. The entire experience happened quickly and was so surreal and I would like to thank Elizabeth and the Philadelphia Inquirer for allowing me this amazing opportunity.
Many people ask me how do I get most of my press coverage. I think it’s a combination of networking and showcasing one’s personality. By going to different events and being myself, I display my unique style and follow up on every chance encounter. By putting yourself out there you will be surprised at the opportunities that come back to you. K.R.T.
Styling isn’t as easy as it looks, especially when you have a client who is 6’6 and has arms that are almost as long as you. Those are stats from Philadelphia 76ers star forward Andre Iguodola. I was honored to be a part of this photo shoot, which my mentor Rakia Reynolds introduced me to. Andre Iguadola and Kendra G from 100.3 The Beat radio station were being featured in the spring issue of The Source magazine in a feature called “Jocks vs Jocks”. I was abled to pull from many local area stores such as Mitchell & Ness, Torre Big and Tall, Adidas and Kamouflage Conecpt store. Kendra G was styled by Mareen Reese. It was amazing to see Mareen’s big bag of tools that made styling that much easier. She is such an accomplished stylist and I definitely used this as an opportunity to learn from her. I brought Muhammad along with me for assistance in the overall process. The experience was extremely surreal and I met some amazingly talented people I look forward to working with again in the future. K.R.T.

What better way to end 2010 then modeling on Fox 29 Philly for Rakia Reynolds’ fashion tips for New Years. Being that I just met Rakia a week ago at the Wilhelmina holiday party shows how important it is to make your presence felt and to network with people when you are at different events. She asked me to send her some pictures and I was allowed to style one of my own outfits on the show. The three female models wore outfits from Philadelphia boutique Carmelita Couture.
While modeling is something that I grew up doing I never really pursued it. However I’m glad I had the opportunity to rekindle it and participate in such a wonderful experience. Also it was a pleasure working with Rakia and I look forward to working with her more in future. Check out pictures from the day and view the Fox 29 segment.→ Read more
