“I was once told to smell your roses as you make it to the top” -Chill Moody
Tomorrow, Friday, Decemeber 28,2012 at 10pm Chill Moody will be headlining his first ever concert with Live Nation.
The concert will be held in Philadelphia, PA at the Theater of Living Arts - 334 South Street. This year our fellow king has done so many things to add to his professional resume; from hitting the stage at the 2012 Roots Picnic, to being ranked #3 on Billboard’s Top 10 Things Seen and Heard.
One of our best experiences with the rising Philly MC, is the forming of a new movement in Philadelphia “The Coalition” . Along side our peers JusBeano, Abstract Thought and the man himself Chill Moody, we are charging ourselves to spark change in the city of Philadelphia with a cohesive message to be great as one, and not live with the “crabs in a barrel” mentality.

Its hard for me to stay in the loop with so many new artists appearing on the scene. If it wasn’t for blogs like Babylon Cartel, Anmlhse or Hip Hop Since 1987 I would’nt know about a lot of these new discoveries. I’ve been impressed with a lot of up and coming talent but one in particular is West Philadelphia emcee Chill Moody. I appreciate his music because he shows great eloquence, originality & rhyme ability whether it be at one his many shows in the tri-state area or rhyming on his mixtapes.
I was very impressed when he rapped over a mix of Nas instrumentals on his CHILLMatic video. He freestyled without using profanity and was able to change his flow with every beat change. Chill is destined for mass appeal due to his thought provoking content and smooth delivery. You can hear him now on Philadelphia’s 100.3 The Beat radio station with his remix to Frank Ocean’s Novacane and his new song “My Eyes” ft Cody Kahmar. Be on the look out for this king. – K.R.T.

Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Corey Latif has released a 23 track album of some of his leaked songs. Not only is he one of my favorite artist he’s a great friend of mine who I also work with as his stylist. He has written hit songs like “Deserve U More” and “Teach Me” for Musiq Soulchild, “Damage” for Chris Brown and most recently ” Gone Already” by Faith Evans. I was actually gonna list my favorite songs of this cd but midway through I realized every song is amazing. Download Corey’s new CD and you be the judge. K.R.T.

I first saw the Rhode Island native Theo Martins at the Anml Hse 3 years anniversary concert/party here in Philly back in March. There were many artists that night but he was one of the ones that stood out to me the most. I had heard of Theo Martins before but his stage presence & his style of dress left a memorable stamp.
My good friend Tasha Bleu of Treu Bleu Imagery, who is a amazing photographer, recently shot a diverse and unique set of photographs of Theo. When it comes to being an artist you have to have a balance in all things from creativity, presentation, talent & style & Theo represents that. He is giving a breath of fresh air to the industry. I don’t know exactly what genre of music I would put him in, lets just say he is a Talented Young King. K.R.T.

When it comes to music I’m a Q-Tip, Raphael Saadiq & Cee-Lo type of guy. I enjoy all genres of music but smooth R&B is what I enjoy the most. I have been told that i have a old soul so i adjust more to muisc that comes from within & has more meaning. So its kinda funny that for the past week I have been enjoying this mixtape by my good friend over at Abstract Thought Aaron Nearn better known as DJ AyeBoogie new mixtape “Welcome To The Aye”. It took me quite some time to listen to the entire thing but I like it because it shows you the different types of music being played down South that us folks up North don’t hear until 6 months after it has already came out. His trip to Atlanta inspired him to come out with his first mixtape full of instant club hits. Everybody says they go the extra mile but he went 658 miles for his!! K.R.T.
