Behind The King: Curran J for Philadelphia’s Magazine “20 Best Dressed Philadelphians”
I can remember a few years back reading the Philadelphia Magazine in the barbershop saying I need to be in this magazine. I always considered myself as a fashion maven residing in the area so I knew that one day a kings dream would come true. Now 3 years later I had the pleasure of being featured in the March 2013 issue for fashion highlighting “20 best dressed Philadelphian’s”. It was a honor to be recognized in such a notable level amongst many other fashionable people in the city of Philadelphia. As fashion is something I breathe, to be labeled as this in the city that I was born and raised in and carry it on my back everywhere I go is an honor and truly an amazing feeling.

Split Second the Movie 10.14.12

”Split Second The Movie Premier”
The young King will be featured in the movie premiere of “Split Second” starring Todd Anthony and Neil Carr directed by Tim Fontaine. These three guys are supporters of myself and the brand K.R.T. so when they asked me to be apart of the production it was a honor to help out.
Acting was always something I was interested in since an early age. My mother use to take me on auditions but I never got picked lol. Those days are now over. Director Tim Fontaine had a vision for me to play a role that most people are not used to seeing me as. I believe that I did a great job, this is the beginning of the beginning of a new talent of mines.
Saturday’s show is sold out but tickets for Sunday’s show for “Split Second” are still available. It goes down OCT 14TH at 6m at The Enterprise Center 4548 Market street Phila, PA 19139. Check out one last promo clip for “SPLIT SECOND” and get your tickets at www.splitsecondthemovie.com

Behind The King: i am OTHER behind the scenes video
“He’s (Pharrell) a King and I’m inspired by him… Kings inspire Kings.” – Curran J
Back in December I had the opportunity to be apart of a video for Pharrell Williams for an innovative movement called i am OTHER. As explained by Pharrell “i am OTHER is a cultural movement dedicated to Thinkers, Innovators and Outcasts.” Here is a behind the scenes look at the i am OTHER video. Director, Justin Francis, explained the videos concept, which was a loose parody of the extraterrestrial and science fiction films of the 20th century (more than likely “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”).
The overall message was that it was time for those who are creative, different, and socially outside of what is considered to be normal to step outside of their comfort zones and just be who they are. Pharrell as well as his artists Buddy, Maxine Ashley, and Leah LaBelle gave cameos and spoke of the project.
Check out the video below. You can see the young King at the 34 second mark and even speaking of my experience during the filming of the project at 2:10. mark. – K.R.T.

“I am different, I am weird, I don’t fit into your world”- Pharrell Williams
The wait is finally over! Back in December I took a trip to Los Angeles, California with my good friend Shaheed to be apart of a video for musician, producer and entrepreneur Pharrell Williams‘ new media group called i am OTHER, which has finally launched. i am OTHER is a cultural movement geared towards thinkers, innovators and outcasts bringing these likeminded individuals together to create and share on one platform.
I also had the pleasure of meeting Pharrell and his artists Leah LaBelle & Maxine Ashley and they all received some K.R.T. apparel. Pretty dope right? Well regardless if they wear it or not the experience was worth it within itself. Check out the video below as you will see the Young King at the 15 second mark. - K.R.T.

which isn’t really v.i.p. because i had to stand the entire time.Nonetheless It was an awesome experience.

A King’s Event: Dukes Inspire Kings Recap

“A key to success is consistent quality branding. Personal & professional.”
Anyone that knows me personally knows I am not a fan of public speaking. Even though you may find me with a mic in my hand occasionally, its usually never by preference. I feel that once you’re in a position to lead, you must step up to the plate and do so. That was my thought process on March 8, 2012, when I was nervously waiting to present at the Apple Store for “Dukes Inspire Kings.”
Once I saw the amount of people that came out to support Seun Olubosum and myself for our collaboration event with HyloBoutiques, the excitement presented was unmatched compared to what I was actually feeling. We ended up having a full house, packed with people from all over to come watch us as we discussed our companies and brands. We focused mainly on the beneficial roles that technology and social media has played with brand-building in today’s market. - K.R.T.

Project NYC Recap Video
“Catch Tawfeeq Gaines & Myself at the 3:02 mark”
Last week I had the pleasure of attending the global trade show Project in NYC. Project has evolved into more than just a marketplace for menswear buyers & vendors but it has become an overall experience with an artistic flare where brands are putting more creativity into their visual setups, collaborating, spending more time building lasting relationships with consumers & showing you how certain products are being made.
In this recap video above you will find the president Andrew Pollard, Designer Todd Snyder offer impressions of the event. You will also catch Tawfeeq Gaines and myself cameo at the 3:02 mark as we have a friendly conversation with the curator of the bloggers lounge for Project, Marcus Troy.
I plan to do a more in depth write on the whole trade show experience at Project Las Vegas. I will also cover other tradeshows going on at the same time, such as capsule and ENK . Stayed tuned. - K.R.T.

I had the privilege to photograph Marcus Sucram, the owner of the Skltn Magazine during one of my Street Kings series during the summer. I was intrigued by his look and eager to capture some stills of him. Always prepared for new ideas and challenge after maintaining communication, I allowed Marcus Sucram to interview me in the presents of my home. This was the first time an interview of this caliber was done. Needless to say, good things come to those with an open-mind. Now you can find me in the second issue of Skltn Magazine. “Its the little things”
I am honored to be displayed under the “Style Watch” section of the upcoming November issue of Ebony magazine. I was photographed by photographer Hannan Selah back in February during New York Fashion week. This feature really shows how little details can really pull together an ensemble. Although, it doesn’t show my face it has my name and my site for those who read the article or are curious about the man in the riding boots and House of Ra’oof medicine bag. Thanks again to Hannan and Ebony magazine for the feature. - K.R.T.

K.R.T. x 2011 Jeep Compass XP
“A King should always travel in style”
I recently had the opportunity to test drive a 2011 Jeep Compass for a week for being a influential blogger in the city of Philadelphia. When I first saw the car I thought to myself “Soccer Dad” but I soon came to realize that that wasn’t the case.
The Jeep XP is in fact a smooth ride and it is very good on gas with 23 City and 27 Highway mpg. I would know this because I put 350 miles on it. Throughout the week, the Jeep Compass came in handy with storage and getting me from meetings and photoshoots. I also received a lot of compliments on how nice the car was and how it complemented my fly.
With the help of Sammy Tarantino I was able to capture my experience with my first video on K.R.T. below. – K.R.T.
K.R.T. Recent Press: GQ Tommy Ton’s Street Style New York
One goal that many people have is to be recognized in their craft and be noticed for their creativity. Since fashion is one of the many things I love and am dedicated to, it is an honor to be photographed by the world’s top men’s fashion magazine’s GQ. While this is not my first time on GQ, it is still thrilling to be included among so many stylish men, fashion professionals and to be in the consideration set of stylish gentlemen.
Attending NYFW, the difference between this season and last season is that people knew my name & brand rather then just my face. It also bought up thoughts of the GQ article on Worst Dressed Cities in America and Philadelphia being #6. I am not only representing myself when I travel but for all the stylish people that come from Philadelphia and all the men around the world who may not get the recognition they deserve. This street style photo is only the start for many collaborations, my fashion career and furthering the Kings Rule Together mission. - K.R.T.
